A FACSIMILE E-BOOK EDITION  OF THE THIRD
MAGIC BOOK THAT WAS WRITTEN IN
ENGLISH IN 1634.
This is the Third Book written in English that explains how Magic Tricks are done. Book Number two was  The Art of Iuggling (Juggling) written by S.A. Rid in 1612 which plagerised  The Discoverie of Witchcraft of 1584 (available as an e-book from us, check out our e-books page).

The Art of Iuggling (Juggling) will be published as an e-book by us.
I felt that Hocus Pocus, jr. was a better choice for our second e-book because it is a better instruction manual, it is illustrated (Rid isn't), and since we had already published The Discoverie of Witchcraft
the material in that book had been covered.

Our E-Books are ideal  for magicians that are doing Renaissance Faires, re-enactments for the 18th Century, the 19th Century, the 20th Century and modern magicians, or any magician that wants to add something new (even if it is old) with a lot of impact
on their audience.

WHAT IS HOCUS POCUS, jr.?

Written by an anonymous author in 1634, Hocus Pocus, jr. was his pseudonym. The actual title was The Anatomie of Legerdemain.

Since Hocus Pocus, jr appeared over the title and dwarfed it, the book became known as Hocus Pocus, jr.

Hocus Pocus, jr.  teaches the magic that was being done when it was written in 1534 and includes subjects such as sleight-of-hand, special equipment, or the use of confederates, techniques still used by magicians today.

PERFECT FOR HISTORICAL MAGICIANS,

INVALUABLE FOR ANY CONJUROR
A GREAT RESEARCH TOOL

A superb research tool for historical magicians that are doing Renaissance Faires, re-enactments for the 18th Century, and the 19th Century.

DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT

This book is invaluable  for any magician as a number of the tricks are still performed today, or if you want to find something that is so old it will appear new, this e-book will do the trick.  <grin>

WHY DO YOU PUBLISH THESE E-BOOKS?

I do a lot of Renaissance Faires, re-enactments, and historical sites.
I am concerned about authenticity in my act, so I have researched books that have the resources to help me achieve that goal.
I decided that if I found them useful, others would also, and that was why I started publishing the E-Books.

WARNING!

There might be some tricks in Hocus Pocus, jr. that should not be done under any circumstances, they might be too dangerous to people or animals. The book could be used as a way to learn tricks, as the instructions explain them and there are illustrations, however,  you might find it easier to use more modern books, videos, or DVDs to learn the tricks.

FACSIMILE EDITION

The book is the same as when it was printed and contains period words, phrases, spellings, and printing, but generally the meaning is clear.

For example, here is the title addition in modern English:

The Art of Juggling set forth in his proper colours, fully, plainly, and exactly, so that an ignrant person may thereby learne the full perfection of the same, after a little practice.

Unto each Tricke is added the figure (picture), where it is needfull (needed) for instruction.

Hocus Pocus, jr. will tell you what type of magic was being done in Renaissance England (and presumably elsewhere) at the time of Charles I, how it was done, the patter for the routine, and the pictures show us what types of props a magician in the first half of the 17th Century was using.

DEVELOP A PERIOD ACT

If you want to have an authentic routine using period props, this book will show you the way- in fact, The Great Scot based the period leather cups and balls sets he produces upon the pictures in Hocus Pocus, jr.

If you want a set of the cups and balls for yourself, you can find them by going to the Magic Shop Page.

HOCUS POCUS, jr. MAGIC TRICKS FIT ANY TIME PERIOD

Whether or not you do Renaissance Magic, the tricks fit a number of time periods. They still fool people, which is why they keep getting published and can be used in your act without any problems.
